WVU is student centered, if you want it to be. College, like anything in life, is what you make of it. I think it is up to the students here to become active. In my opinion, the students here as well as all people on the earth, have a moral responsibility to seek social justice
and equality. There is a lot that needs to be changed in this world
and it starts in our community and local groups and then spreads
outward, like a ripple.

In order to start that ripple, I am working this year to bridge the gap between the students at WVU and the community surrounding the college. We need to use art, creativity, and our own enthusiasm this year to uplift the minds of the youth. There are so many students at
WVU with so many talents, and we need to put them together and share
them with the kids in the area.

Also there are programs that WVU offers to travel abroad. Amizade is an international non-for profit organization that provides service learning credits for WVU students. Also there are
opportunities through AmeriCorps to serve in communities in and out of the United States. Even if someone is not interested in an extended service program, students can check in with the Center for Civic Engagement to find local organizations that provide a variety of
service.

Make your experience at WVU worth it. Grow into your individual self and take advantage of the life changing programs WVU offers. Don?t waste time and grow complacent. There is more work to be done now in the world than ever before. So don?t get bored. Let?s put our minds together and uplift the youth.
