Throughout history philosophers have made valiant attempts to come up with good ?philosophies of life.? Can you?
What does the good life consist of? Is being healthy and fit a part of living well? Does one need to be morally good in order to truly succeed at living well?

Living well is taking all the crap that life brings your way and still being you
Living well is being able to go home to your best friend and the nicest person in the world every night.
Living well is a feeling from the bottom of your heart toward life. The feeling depends on all your experiences, like family life, education, communication with people, jobs, etc.
You are on target, Sarah.
Now matter how you are living, you are not living well if you are not satisfied with how you are living. If a person if living well, they will be truly satisfied and content with their decisions.
Living well is knowing that you can wake up in the mornings knowing that you are not a slave to the government or anything else. It means having clothes to put on,a roof over your head, and being in good health. Things that millions of people in our own country don't have.
Living well is relative to all people, as are most virtues. To me, it's being contempt with your life and not seeing envy towards how another person lives. It involves taking pride in all things you do and making yourself successful. It doesn't matter about the things you have, what matters is what you do with them. Living well, for lack of better terms, is helping others live well. We're all in it together. If you aren't happy with your life, you're not living well. Living well is attaining perfect harmony and happiness, something we all strive for. So it can also be argued that living well is taking the path towards living better...
Living well is taking what you have, good or bad, and making the best of it. Even when tough situations arise, if a person is living well, they will take it in stride and keep on going.
Living well is finding your purpose in life and living it. Learning to avoid the mistakes you can and learning even more from the ones you make. It's helping others to find their purpose. It is remaining steadfast in the truth but not being inflexible to new ideas and approaches.
Living well is being satisfied with the person you have become at that moment in time.
There are two ways to look at life - as if nothing is a miracle or as if everything is. Living well is appreciating the world in which we live and finding happiness in everyday things.
To live well is to laugh often and love much. There are a few lines in a poem by Bessie Anderson Stanley that pretty much sums up what I think it means to live well. "...who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had;..."
Living well is living up to your own highest standards.
For me living well is living together. I mean living with people, different cultures, ideologies... recognizing and respecting diversity in all.
Living well is having true love in your life, being yourself, and having freedom.
?Living well? is term that is interpreted differently, although the ultimate indicator is happiness. Some people believe that you are truly doing well when you have possessions that you have always wanted. For example saying success is in living in a big house or driving a fancy car. Others take a more nostalgic approach to the term. Believing they are ?living well? when they are personally content. Saying that they are the most successful when they are personally surrounded by the people they love the most and doing things they have always desired. However, who is to say one is a better indication of ?living well? compared to the other. People with money and possessions are happy because they can surround themselves with the things they want and be completely content with this form of living. There is a different group of people who feel they don?t have to have things of material value but things that change their emotions. In which ever way people approach ?living well? it is based off of being happy, happiness through monetary items or emotionally. There for, ?living well? in being happy.
?There’s a difference in
Living and living well,
You can’t have it all
All by yourself
Something’s always missing
‘Til you share it with someone else
There’s a difference in living and living well?
George Straight makes a good point in the lyrics to his song Living and Living Well; In order to live well you can not do it yourself. I believe that living well involves being loved, successful and happy.
In this song Straight describes that in order to live well you must share your life with someone else. Being loved is crucial in living well. Being loved can mean that you have a partner to share your life with, someone to confide in, to raise a family with and to call your best friend. Being loved also includes being loved by your family and friends. In order to live well a person must surround themselves with love from others and at the same time give love to others. An anonymous person said that “Love is like the air we breathe. It may not always be seen, but it is always felt, used and needed.” Love is needed to live well.
Often, people base the quality of their life on how successful they are. Being successful means different things to different folks. To one person this may be going to a prestigious university and becoming a prominent lawyer. To another being successful in their life is to raise children in a loving, safe and educational atmosphere. Whatever a person?s idea of success is, they must reach it and do well at it in order to reach a feeling of living well. A farm in my home town has the motto, ?Change is inevitable; success is optional.? Success is needed to live well.
Both love and success make people happy. There are however other things like hobbies, scenery, etc. that make people happy that increase their quality of life. Things that make me happy include cooking, sight seeing, exercising and hanging out with my friends. I consider all of these things crucial components in my life that allow me to live well. I also find happiness in helping others and loving others. A appreciate the Chinese proverb that says,
“If you want happiness for an hour
- take a nap.go fishing.If you want happiness for a day –
If you want happiness for a month
- get married.inherit a fortune.If you want happiness for a year –
If you want happiness for a lifetime—help someone else.?
Happiness is needed to live well.
It is a combination of love, success and happiness that makes someone live well.
To live well you must think you are living well. To live well is to be content.
In my opinion living well is accomplished when a person is fully satisfied with their self. Living well can be possible once someone has reached their personal goal in life. The definition of living well varies from each individual. Not everybody lives in equal conditions, therefore everyone has a different perception of what they consider as living well.
For example, from a materialistic person’s point of view, living well might include a big house, nice cars, a personal chef, a house maid, and tons of nice clothes. The things that define living well, usually reflect someone’s desires. The materialistic person may have been poor living in a small house, driving a beat up car, wearing torn clothing, and sick of cleaning/cooking in their life. This definition reflects the opposite condition of what that person experienced in the past.
In another sense, liviing well is achieved when self enjoyment is recognized and achieved. An unhappy rich man may feel that he is living poorly becuase he does not enjoy his wealth. If the unhappy man found a hobby or person which let him enjoy and appreciate his life then he might feel that he is living well.
My definition of living well consists of living simply, being with loved ones and showing kindness to others. I will live well knowing that my actions are not causing harm to others. By living simply, I expect my basic needs to be met; food shelter, clothing, and lots of vacation time to see the world. As you can see by reading the blogs from above living well is defined differently by each person and no definition is incorrect, as long as it truly defines an individuals’ perception of living well in life.
It is difficult to say what living well is until one experiences it. Once one experiences it, it probably cannot be defined or explained very well. I am quite certain, though, that one cannot live well until one comes to “know” onself. So, until such time as one can come to live well, the closest one can come to living well is to seek to live well, and to do that, one must begin by observing, studying, and learning to understand oneself.
Living well is simply being happy with what you have done, what you are doing, and knowing what you want to do in the future. living well is feeling fulfilled and like you have a purpose in being here.
Living well is to have no remorse. To always feel forgiven. It seems when I am down on myself then life is terrible. I am at my best when I am liking me which makes me a good enfluence on me and my enviroment.
My answer is that living well is being content with where you are in life(job and social status), and who you are with(not wishing for a better looking significant other).
My reason is that it is how you look at your own that determines whether or not you will be happy. If you want more money, a better career, a newer car, etc. you will never achieve happiness. You will always want more, better, and newer. You will never truly enjoy what is right there in front of you.
Living well is living in the moment. That’s where God is.
Living well is being able to die well. To die well, you have to be satisfied with how you lived. To be satisfied with how you live, you examine your values, and through your entire life, you make decisions based on your values. And that, is living well.
How do you figure that living well is being able to die well.
Nice question, I should have worded it more aptly-
Living well is being able to die well as life is the build-up of experiences only to be finalized in death. My definition of “living well” must vary from the norm which thinks the good life, is in having the good things, or living happily through self-indulgence.
Through all experiences, you are tested and tempted many times. “The good life” is taking advantage of these opportunities to stand up for what you believe in. Giving into conventional thinking and you are not yourself, you are society.
Live and die in doing that which is good, and that truly is, living well.
I think living well can be looked at from several points of veiw. Some people consider living well having money huge homes, and fancy cars. I look at living well as being happy with yourself and surroundings and everything you have accomplished in life and what lies in front of you. To me if your life was full of failed attemptes but you had money you would not be living well. My friend Jessica disagrees with this because she thinks if you fail money can cure your pain inside by treating yourself to nice tings.
I think that the exact definition of the word “well” can definitely vary from person to person, but in my mind it is living a life in which you are healthy, active, taking on new challenges and not doing things which harm others around you. Being well does not require you to have that “perfect” physical appearance, but rather for you to be happy with who you are and taking steps to ensure that you are healthy, regardless of exactly how you look. I feel that someone who is considered slightly overweight but still eats properly and exercises regularly may just be suffering from bad genes, and can be just as healthy as someone who is ten pounds lighter than they are in the average weight range. However, there is of course a line in terms of weight and healthiness, slightly overweight and obese are two totally different things.
I feel that wellness is also a mental game as well, and one cannot be well unless they are stimulating their mind as well as their body, even if it is something as simple as reading a book or brushing up on a political topic, one is well if they are not standing idly by as the world pass them by.
Wellness is also taking care of those around you, i.e. the world. To me this does not mean that one needs to go buy a hybrid car and use solar panels to provide their house with electricity, but it does mean to not blatantly disregard the world around you. Simple tasks like recycling and not littering both make living where you do a better place for you and both the people and animals around you.
I believe that living well means living for yourself and putting yourself first. Your health and well-being should be your number one priority. Also, i believe to live well you need to surround yourself with positive things. Positive people and positive situations. If you have positive people in your life, it will make your life easier and less stressful. Positive situations will make you feel better about yourself and it will keep you in a healthy lifestyle. If you are involved with negative people or negative situations it will cause you to fall into a negative lifestyle. It will make it much harder to live well due to stress and complications.
Also, i think the most important thing about living well is being happy and content with the life you are living. Stress and being upset only makes life harder and causes you not to live well.
I believe that “living well” is living with as little stress as possible. I do not think you have to be rich and powerful to be considered to be living well. It is my belief that if you are a person who is happy, feel fulfilled, and get enjoyment out of life, then you are a person without stress. I would also consider this person to be living well. Therefore, living without (or with little) stress is “living well.” Some people may argue that your life could be bad, but you simply do not stress about it. I can see where this argument has validity. My response to this would be then that it depends on one’s definition of “well.” To me, living well does not mean that you have to live up to SOCIETY’s persona of well.
Living well is a combination of things. Some may see riches and success as living well. But, if you’re not on the exceedingly wealthy side of the money chain, you can still be happy. Happiness is the key to living well. If you’re happy, it doesn’t matter if you can’t afford this months rent, or you’re behind on bills. If you have a family that loves you, whether its with you or far away, that means the world. So another key: love. Caring people that make you smile and not worry about all the world’s matters improves your health and your happiness. These, are two very important things. Living well can be obtained through the fame and fortune, if you’re that type of person, but if not, there are some little things that you have that all together make all the short changes worth while.
I would love to say that living well is being happy with what you have. But we all know that no-one is ever truly happy. People always want something more, and when they eventually get that, they find something else they desire. So living well has to be what each individual thinks to live well is. If someone lives in a small house with no garden and cant afford a new car, but by their standards are living well, then they are living well. They may want to buy that new car, but they know that it isnt going to happen yet and they realize that these materialistic things are not the most important things in life. Which brings me to what I personally believe is what living well means, as does Keehan in the above post. I believe that health and family are far more important than materialistic possessions and that it is when people get caught up with these things that they are not living truly well.
living well is being happy and overcoming your obstacles in life and letting nothing drag you down. it shouldn’t be based on how much money you have or worldly possessions.
